In short

SortKind helps you photograph, identify, value, and settle the belongings in a home. To do that, we store the photos and details you give us, and we send them to Google's AI services to identify items and estimate values. Your inventory is private to you and the people you invite. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use facial recognition. We do not run ads inside the app. You can delete your account at any time.

1. Who we are

SortKind is a product of Little Buddy Agency, LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company (“SortKind,” “we,” “us”). Questions about this policy go to [email protected] or the mailing address in Section 16.

SortKind is offered to people in the United States. If you live outside the United States, please do not use the service. See Section 13.

2. What we collect

Things you give us

Account details. Name, email address, and a password, which we cannot see. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email from them, or a relay address if you choose to hide your email.

Your inventory. Photos of items, and the names, descriptions, categories, conditions, values, notes, rooms, and locations you or the AI attach to them.

Property details. The city and state of the property you are cataloging, used to find comparable sales. We do not ask for the street address.

Estate and family details. The names, emails, and roles of the people you invite (heirs, family, advisors), who is assigned which items, and which items are marked keep, sell, donate, or discard.

Documents you upload. Wills, deeds, prior appraisals, receipts, and similar files, if you choose to add them.

Messages. Comments and notes you and your collaborators leave inside a shared inventory.

Support requests. What you tell us when you contact us.

Things we collect automatically

Device and usage data. Device type, operating system, app version, IP address, crash reports, and how you use the app (which screens, which features). We use this to keep the service working and to fix problems.

Purchase data. Your subscription tier, purchase history, and renewal status. We do not see or store your full card number. See Section 6.

Information about people who are not users

You may enter names and details about people who never use SortKind, such as heirs assigned to items or advisors listed on a property. By entering them, you confirm you have the right to do so; we do not verify that. We use that information only to run your inventory. Anyone whose name appears in a SortKind inventory may ask us to remove it by emailing [email protected]. Photos may also incidentally show people. We do not analyze photos to identify people.

Things we do not collect

– We do not run facial recognition and we do not create biometric identifiers (such as face geometry) from your photos. We do not ask our AI providers to identify people.

– We do not ask your device for its location. The property location is what you type in. Photos taken on a phone can carry hidden location data (EXIF metadata). We do not use that location data, and we remove it from photos on upload. If you do not want a photo’s contents included at all, do not upload it.

– We do not access your contacts, camera roll, or other apps except when you actively choose a photo or take one.

3. How we use it

To run the service. Store your inventory, identify and value items, and provide the other features you use, including sharing with people you invite.
To bill you. Manage subscriptions and receipts.
To support you. Answer questions and fix problems.
To keep the service safe. Detect abuse, prevent fraud, enforce our Terms, and meet legal obligations.
To improve SortKind. We look at aggregated or de-identified usage patterns. We do not use the contents of your inventory, photos, or documents to build advertising profiles.
To send you service messages. Invitations you trigger, receipts, renewal reminders, security notices, and account changes. These are not marketing.
To send you marketing, only if you opt in. You can unsubscribe from marketing email at any time. Service messages continue while you have an account.

4. How the AI works with your data

When you photograph an item, we send that photo, and any details you have typed, to Google’s Gemini model through Google’s Firebase platform. Gemini returns a suggested name, category, condition, description, and estimated value. For some items, Gemini also searches the web for comparable sales. Before that step, we may run the photo through Google Cloud Vision to read labels, text, and logos.

What that means for your data:

No model training. Under our agreement with Google, Google does not use your photos or details to train or improve its models.
Short-term abuse logs. Google keeps prompts and responses for a limited period solely to detect misuse of its services, then deletes them.
Cloud Vision. Under Google’s terms, Vision processes each photo and does not retain it.
Search results in the app. When Gemini uses web search to price an item, you may see Google search suggestions alongside the result. Those come from Google.
Uploaded documents. Wills, deeds, and appraisals you upload are stored for you and your collaborators. They are not sent to the AI unless you choose a feature that says it reads the document.
Estimates are estimates. AI can be wrong. Values are estimates, not appraisals. See the Terms of Service, Section 3.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases.

People you invite. Collaborators see what the owner shares with them. Owners control access. When you invite someone, we email them an invitation.
Service providers who work for us. They may only use your data to provide their service to us, under written contracts. Current providers:
– Google (Firebase): sign-in, database, file storage, crash reporting, and app performance measurement.
– Google (Gemini and Cloud Vision): AI identification and valuation, as described in Section 4.
– RevenueCat: subscription management for purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play.
– Stripe: payment processing for purchases made on our website. Stripe collects your card details directly; we never see the full number.
– Apple and Google: billing for purchases made through their stores, under their own privacy policies.
– Resend: sending invitations, receipts, and account emails.
eBay, only if you choose to list an item. When you publish a listing, you sign in to your own eBay account and give eBay permission for SortKind to create the listing on your behalf. Your eBay account belongs to you, not us. We keep the eBay data we need to manage your listings and delete it as eBay’s rules require.
Professional appraisers, only if you ask. If you request a professional estimate, we send that appraiser the item’s photos and details you choose to include.
Referral partners, only if you ask. We may offer introductions to related services, such as estate attorneys, donation pickup, or junk removal. We share your details with a partner only when you request that introduction, and only what the request needs.
Legal reasons. If the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of you, us, or others. This includes valid requests from a court-appointed executor or administrator of your estate. See Section 11.
Business changes. If SortKind is acquired or merges, your data may transfer as part of that transaction. This policy would still apply to your data unless you are told otherwise and given a choice.

6. Payments

App Store and Google Play purchases are billed by Apple or Google. They handle your payment details, receipts, and refunds under their own policies. RevenueCat helps us confirm which plan you are on.
Website purchases are billed by Stripe. Stripe stores your payment method so we can charge your subscription renewals.
– We keep transaction records (plan, amount, date) for as long as tax and accounting law requires.

7. Our marketing website

Our marketing site at sortkind.com uses advertising tags from Meta, Google, TikTok, and LinkedIn to measure our ads and to show SortKind ads to people who visited the site. Those companies may collect information about your activity on our site and on other sites over time through their tags, under their own privacy policies, and you can adjust your ad preferences with each of them directly.

The website uses cookies to keep you signed in, to process payments through Stripe, and for the advertising measurement described above. We do not respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.

When we use de-identified data to improve SortKind, we keep it de-identified, do not try to re-identify anyone, and require the same of anyone we share it with.

8. How long we keep it

Your inventory, photos, and documents: for as long as your account is open. When you delete an item or your account, we remove the content from our systems within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days, except what the next bullets require us to keep.
Transaction records: for as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Support emails: for as long as needed to resolve your request and handle any follow-up.
Server logs and crash reports: for a short period, then deleted or aggregated.
Backups: deleted content may persist in backups for a limited time, then it is gone.
Data we must keep by law (for example, in response to a legal hold): for as long as the legal requirement lasts.

9. Your choices and rights

Anyone can:

Delete your account from the app, or by visiting sortkind.com/delete-account.
Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any marketing message.
Ask us for anything else at [email protected].

If a state privacy law applies to you and gives you rights over your personal information, such as access, correction, deletion, or opting out of targeted advertising, email [email protected] and we will handle your request as that law requires. We may ask you to confirm from the email on your account before acting.

We do not sell personal information.

10. People you invite

If you invite someone to your inventory, you give us their name and email. By inviting them, you confirm you have their permission to share that. We use it only to send the invitation and to give them the access you chose. If they decline or never respond, we delete their contact details after a reasonable time. If they accept, they create their own account, agree to the Terms and this policy themselves, and have all of the rights in Section 9 for their own data.

11. If you die, or if you are settling someone else’s account

We know this is a real possibility for a service built around estates.

Legacy contact. Where the app lets you name a legacy contact, we may give that person access to export your inventory and close your account after we receive proof of your death.
Executors and administrators. We may provide account access or an export to a court-appointed personal representative who sends us a certified death certificate and letters testamentary or letters of administration, to the extent required or permitted by the fiduciary access law of your state (most states have adopted a version of the Revised Uniform Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act).
Collaborators keep what was shared with them. Access they already had continues under the sharing settings in place unless the representative closes the account.

12. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest and access controls designed so that one user cannot read another user’s data. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and any required regulators as the law requires.

13. United States only

SortKind is designed for people in the United States, is offered only in United States app stores, and is not directed to people in the European Union, United Kingdom, or elsewhere. Our data is stored and processed in the United States. If you use SortKind from outside the United States, you do so on your own initiative and your data will be processed here.

14. Children

SortKind is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that a minor has an account, we delete it. If a minor is an heir, the person managing the estate should record that in their own account rather than creating an account for the minor.

15. Changes to this policy

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify you, such as a notice in the app or an email, and where the law requires it, ask for your consent.
